Social and Emotional Development teaches students how to respond to adults and peers across various settings. Just as other skills are equally imperative, social and emotional learning are an essential life skill. Shining Stars works with students to promote positive reciprocal social skills with staff and other classmates. Parents have the option to enroll their son or daughter in a community-based social skills play groups with students of similar developmental profiles.
Shining Stars works with students on developing skills in self-regulation including:
-Understanding what various emotions look and feel like.
-Helping students determine what strategies can be used when there’s tension or discomfort.
-Direct teaching of prosocial and adaptive behavior.
